Welcome to the Herkind horoscope section! The below horoscopes have been written for the coming months of March and April.

To find the section that will resonate with you the most, look at your rising sign – if you don’t know your rising sign, there are many online calculators! You can also, of course, stick with your sun sign!

A transit is happening right now that will affect everyone. Mercury is in retrograde in Pisces, which lasts from 3 February to 10 March. Generally, this may have negative effects on communication – relating to electronics, travel or just misunderstandings between the people you talk to.

Aries

Happy Birthday Arians! During your season, from 20 March to 19 April, the Sun will be in your sign. This will give you a boost of positivity and (very needed!) energy. You may have been feeling a bit all over the place and sluggish during the Mercury retrograde, so as Mercury moves into Aries from 11- 27 April, you will feel like your interactions with people are back to normal. Before these dates your energy will be more focused on spiritual matters, and after them your energy will be more indulgent and social. Mars, a highly influential planet for you along with the Sun, is in Capricorn until 30 March and then Aquarius from 30 March onwards. This means it’s a good time to focus your energies on work, studying or other projects you have on the go. On 24 March, there will be a New Moon in Aries, which may make you feel nervous or uncertain about things going on in your life, you might want to fix or deal with things as quickly and painlessly as possible. But, don’t be tempted to make any rushed decisions.

Lady Gaga is an Aries that comes to mind when thinking about famous LGBTQ+ members. Her message through her music is always to be unapologetically yourself. During these two weeks, consider where your safe spaces are. Where can you be your true self? Be grateful for these spaces and recognise the work it took to reach them and fight for those who still don’t have these spaces.

Taurus

The Pisces Mercury retrograde may have made you more prone to procrastination and excess ‘chilling’ – as much as self-love should always come first, you may have been wasting valuable time. Mercury enters Taurus from 27 April onwards, so the end of April may be an especially good time for your social activities. Venus, your ruling planet, will be in Taurus from 5 March to 3 April. This is a very positive transit for you as things will start feeling back to normal; warmth, comfort, and affection will return to your relationships. After this, Venus moves into Gemini, so your friendships and other platonic social interactions will be in favour. On 23 April there will be a New Moonin Taurus. Your dislike for change may come to the forefront as your need for stability increases during this time. Be wary of leaning on your material coping mechanisms (food, drink, shopping!) during this time and try and look inwards at your self-image instead.

Sam Smith is a Taurus that recently stepped out to confirm their pronouns, becoming comfortable with being open and accepting of their LGBTQ+ identity. Taking this extra step to come out to the public is always hard, to the point where it is often easier to stick to our known comfort zones and familiar social circles. The knowledge that you are a beautiful and whole soul first and foremost will help you to withstand outside opinions, as well as support your fellow LGBTQ+ people.

Gemini

Your ruling planet Mercury has been really keeping you on your toes over these few months Gemini! General advice is always to think twice before you speak and don’t get too harsh with yourself if you are unable to communicate as effectively as normal. Make sure you take time for yourself! Mercury in Pisces from 16 March to 11 April will be the time where you need this advice the most. Otherwise, especially in April, your natural ability to communicate and socialise will work well with the other planets’ energies, creating an overall great month for you to improve your relationships, to be passionate and motivated and be successful and lucky at work or school. Towards the end of April, there are a few difficult aspects between Mercury and Pluto, Jupiter and Saturn. During this time, be aware of over-analysing which may turn into unnecessary paranoia and over-promising or exaggerating things without realising the consequences. This is definitely a time of learning about how you can improve the way you communicate.

Laverne Cox has been a long-standing Gemini in the LGBTQ+ community and avid activist. Using your talents in communication to speak out against injustices in your community can have a massive positive impact – whether it’s just supporting one person or fighting for the equal rights and fair treatment of a group of people marginalised by society.

Cancer

Your ruling planet, the Moon, moves through the signs the quickest out of all the planetary bodies – which is why Cancers are regarded as one of the most emotional signs of the zodiac. During March and April, the major Moon phases are The Full Moons in Virgo and Libra on 9 March and 8 April, respectively and the New Moons in Aries and Taurus on 24 March and 23 April, respectively. The Virgo Full Moon will bring your focus to comfort through organisation and stability, after which the New Moon in Aries will kick this focus into overdrive. Remember there is no need to make impulsive decisions in the moment; an issue will iron itself out with the help of rationalised decision making! In April the Super Full Moon in Libra will make you want to focus on harmonizing everything in your life, after which the New Moon in Taurus will question this supposed harmony you’ve built. It’s important that creating harmony should not come at the expense of being able to be your true self.

Lana Wachowski, a very established and successful filmmaker, had what some would call a late entry into the LGBTQ+ community. Sometimes, LGBTQ+ community members have to choose between their blood relations and the people that truly accept and cherish them for who they are. During these two weeks, look at the people in your life, whoever they might be, and be grateful for their acceptance and unconditional love. In the same vein, make sure you’re accepting and loving yourself just as much.

Leo

Your ruling planet, the Sun, is in Aries for the majority of this two month period (20 March – 19 April). This will bring a lot of fire, energy and positivity back to your personal aura, Leo. The Sun being in Pisces before this time may make you feel more dreamy and introspective, maybe even making you reminisce. During this time, make sure you focus on your growth and progress rather than less positive memories or occurrences, as this is a time where the energy can be more deep or hard hitting. Your thoughts will highly effect how you feel and act! After Aries Season, the Sun will move into Taurus, beginning a period where you will value the comfort from your friends and other close supportive relationships. During this time, make sure you are not basing your self-worth or image solely on material goods or achievements.

A Leo with a big personality in the LGBTQ+ community is Bretman Rock. As he is a part of viral-focused social media, people often overlook the hard-working and multi-faceted person behind this image, a thing that many Leos are often subjected to. These two weeks are a great time to solidify the belief (and, let’s be honest, FACT!) that you are very capable and talented! You are good at believing in and supporting yourself to succeed. Being a valued member of the LGBTQ+ community does not have to come from activism alone. Living your life as your true self, confidently and courageously, can often encourage and inspire others to do the same.

Virgo

Mercury, the planet of communication and your ruling planet, will be in slightly more challenging planets for you over these two months, Virgo. However, this doesn’t have to be negative as it could be a good chance for you to learn different ways to communicate. From 10 to 16 March there is a short burst of ingenuity and good personal motivation with regards to work. However, be careful in communication between close friends or within relationships to not come off as aloof or detached (even if you don’t mean it). Then, from the 16 to 11 April, Mercury enters Pisces. This may trigger a lot of introspection for you and may make communication in both work and social circles seem less organised and structured (which may be very difficult for you to handle). Going back to the introspection, make sure you don’t dwell on things either in your past or present that you feel are not up to your very high standards of perfection or performance. Be easy on yourself during these months, and there may be some good lessons to learn from your (nearly) opposite signs.

A Virgo in the LGBTQ+ community is Meshell Ndegeocello, a very successful musician that has been involved in several musical and literary LGBTQ+ activism projects. Over these two weeks, give yourself a pat on the back for how much you support your friends and help them with their struggles and hardships. Helping people is what you’re good at and it’s also fulfilling, even though you may not get the recognition you deserve. Know that the behind the scenes hard workers like you are a crucial part of the community and take these weeks to ensure you are getting the support and acceptance you deserve too!

Libra

Your ruling planet Venus will be in Taurus from 5 March to 3 April. During this time you will find a lot of comfort and support from your friends and family. Be careful to not indulge too much in material goods though, as Pisces energy may make you want to connect more with your older friends and spend more time with family. There is also a Super Full Moon in Libra on 8 April during which your emotional needs will be extremely heightened. You may want to focus on balancing and harmonising everything in your life, but make sure you are not doing this at your own expense. Sharing positive as well as negative things is true balance, and this would be a good time to work on understanding that.

A famous LGBTQ+ Libran is the writer Oscar Wilde. His literary works have been highly praised around the world, and he is one of the oldest and most well-known examples of LGBTQ+ discrimination. Over these two months, consider if your safe spaces are truly safe or whether you are just balancing yourself within them. Allow yourself to be true to you, even if it takes a while to discover, and certain people may get left behind.

Scorpio

With Sun in Pisces, you may be feeling extra reminiscent and spaced out. Even though you are used to the emotional depth that comes with Pisces, this type of water-y energy may be difficult for your normally strong and stable side to handle. You may feel a disconnect between wanting to enjoy yourself and return to your youthful and fun side and feeling worried and stressed regarding your past. This could be regarding memories or past relationships. As much as you enjoy stability, this overtly heavy energy might make you desperate to run away, go on a spontaneous trip or cut contact from all your friends. Instead of this, over these two months, try and resist the urge to isolate and accept support from your closest friends. There are some things that will be much easier to digest by taking it outside of just your head and talking about it aloud with loved ones.

Willow Smith recently came out to her family on an episode of their TV show about her bisexuality and openness to polyamory. Scorpios, although they are known for their secrecy and high emotional walls, achieve their true best self when they have had time to realise their inner personality and values. Spend these two months reflecting on this and practicing putting your true self out there. Allow yourself to grow and change as well as be vulnerable. It is a vulnerability that, once you’ve embraced it, will become a very useful strength.

Sagittarius

Your ruling planet, Jupiter, has been in Capricorn for a while and will continue to be in Capricorn over March and April. This means you will have luck and abundance in your social standing, especially regarding your career or how other people see you on the social ladder. Social networking and finding opportunities through existing connections will work especially well and be very worth the time and effort during these months. You need to be wary up to 16 March, when communication can come off as cold and disconnected as Mercury is in Aquarius; and from 11 to 27 April too, when communication can come off as immature or thoughtless as Mercury moves into Aries.

Janelle Monáe, through her journey discovering her LGBTQ+ identity, continues to show support for the LGBTQ+ community regardless of where she stands within it. She talks about how as she finds her place within the community, she hopes that sharing her story will inspire others to do the same. During these two months, consider the effect of your words on others. Sagittarians are very good at inspiring simply by being their authentic self, so make sure you use this well.

Capricorn

The general summary for these two months seems to be a very head down, hardworking energy, which I am sure you have no trouble with. Saturn is in Capricorn until 22 March, so you may be very self-critical regarding your work, ethics and career. Mars is also in Capricorn for most of March, making it very easy for you to spend your energy towards organized and structured things like work or studying. The other outer planets like Jupiter and Pluto have been in Capricorn for a while, and they continue to be in Capricorn over March and April. You may be in a period of life where your career, work or studies have been the major focus of your life. However over these next two months you will have a surge of productive energy to really buckle down and make actual progress.

One of the most famous Capricorn queer icons is David Bowie. For Bowie, his music and work was the most important thing – he worked hard and he was good at what he did. During these two months feel free to commit your whole being to your projects, but make sure you’re spending time on things that align with what you want to do and what your values are.

Aquarius

Aquarians, you have a very interesting few months coming up. Saturn moves into Aquarius from 22 March onwards, and Mars is in Aquarius from 30 March onwards. You have been working extremely hard in a certain area of your life or on a specific project, perhaps with minimal support from family and friends or with not much belief from others in your success. These Saturn and Mars placements might start giving you doubts and fears about whether you are in fact doing the right thing, and whether all the effort is worth it or will ever pay off. Definitely hang in there, because these placements are very double edged – it is definitely a ‘final push’ energy, and your own strength will be enough to pull you through. Make sure you have your closest and most supportive people around you during this time to cheer you on when you can’t cheer yourself on as you normally do. Since Uranus, your ruling planet, is in Taurus, you can definitely find a lot of support for your quirks and intricacies through your long standing relationships, be that friends or family.

Harry Styles is an LGBTQ+ Aquarian and is a great example of the self-expressive, knowing and comfortable Aquarius trait. During these months, just because you may be doubting yourself now that does not mean your personal power and self-knowledge have disappeared completely. Continue to carry on with what you know your purpose is during these two months as best you can, but don’t be too hard on yourself if you feel like it’s not enough. It is!

Pisces

Happy Birthday Pisceans! Since the Mercury retrograde is in your sign, and Mercury also returns to Pisces from 16 March to 11 April, you may be feeling that everyone around you is very stressed out from the forced introspection and emotional depth you are normally used to. Pay close attention to your surroundings and the people you spend time with because you could be easily drained during this time. If something feels off to you, respect your intuition and remove yourself from the situation if possible. With the Sun in Pisces until 20 March, it is the perfect time to take care of yourself and get the most reward from doing so. For the past few years Neptune has been in Pisces and it will continue to be in this sign for a few more. For people with high Piscean influence, these years can be a very crucial time of spiritual growth.

Tyler, the Creator is a Pisces celebrity not often talked about with regard to the LGBTQ+ community, even though he has expressed the opinion that he doesn’t really identify with particular labels and acknowledges the existence of a grey area around this side of his identity. Pisces, people may be asking for support and answers from you that you don’t necessarily have to give during this time. It’s important to protect your own energy.

Herkind is a safe space for young LGBTQ+ womxn to explore and enjoy their identity – otherwise known as your big sis’.
